Frequently
Asked Questions
There
is no application for the program. Anyone with
interests in the Wine & Spirits Industry may
register for the courses. You are not required
to be a UH student or have a college degree to
register. If you chose to enroll directly, you
may pay by credit card or check. Please contact
us for detailed information at wsmi@uh.edu.
How
do I register for the courses?
If you are a registered UH student, please visit
UH Admissions at http://www.uh.edu/enroll/admis/welcome.htm
for enrollment options. Please see our schedule
list for course and sections numbers at http://www.wsmi.uh.edu/undergradschedule.htm.
If you are not a registered UH student you can
still earn your certification through the Wine
& Spirits Management Institute directly. Please
contact us at wsmi@uh.edu to verify registration
process.
What
is the registration deadline for the courses?
Registration for current UH students should follow
standard University of Houston guidelines. If
you are not a registered UH student, you have
until 5 PM on the Friday before class to registered.
Please contact us at wsmi@uh.edu for details.
May
I register for more than one course at a time?
Yes, you may register for as many courses at one
time as you desire. Nine courses are required
to earn your CBM (Commercial Beverage Manager)
certification and you may take all nine courses
in one semester if your schedule permits or spread
them out over 3 semesters.
I
noticed that the courses for this semester have
already started. Can I still sign up for the courses
that have not occurred yet?
If you are enrolled with the University of Houston
you must follow enrollment deadlines. If you are
registered directly with W&SMI you may sign
up for any course by noon (central time) the Friday
before class.
Is
there any particular order or timeline in which
I must complete the CBM certification courses?
No, you may take the courses in any order you
wish (with the suggestion that you take Consumer
Target Marketing before Category Management).
It is recommended to complete the required course
within 3 semesters.
What
if I cannot make the class at the last minute
and have to cancel?
If you are a UH registered student you will need
to follow UH requirements for dropping the course
or receive an F for a final grade unless you have
permission from the instructor. If you are registered
directly with the Wine & Spirits Management Institute,
you have 72 hours before class to cancel or you
forfeit your fees for that course.
